Half Marathon Blues (toes that is)
I ran my first half marathon last weekend in Springfield (with John and Lori!), which was the longest distance I had run since running ten miles two weeks earlier. The ten miles besting my previous long of eight the week before that, and eight besting my previous long of five on multiple occasions.
I think I had nearly injured myself on the ten mile run so my legs were still tight for the half marathon and my left achilles was bothering me. So I actually ran/walked the second half of the half marathon but I finished in 2:02:01, which was good enough to beat my goal of beating marathon world record time.
Apparently I had the wrong shoe/sock/distance combination and my feet started to hurt at around the five or six mile mark. I didn’t realize until after I had finished that it was my toes causing the pain. Now I want a redo but that can wait until next year. It’s too cold to run now.
